How to optimise your own health well being
Would you like to increase your health's well being? With increasing demands from work schedules and family commitments it is easy to lose sight of your own personal health goals.
The key to an ultimate success in optimising your health well being is to take a holistic approach to the subject.
Nutritional aspects:
Eating "on the run" tends to lead to unhealthy food choices.
Always try to ensure you have adequate time to sit down to eat meals.
Ensure you diet is rich in all nutrients by planning meals in advance.
The odd unhealthy snack, dining out or take away need not be a problem
as long as it remains an exception to the rule. Biscuits are probably
the most unhealthy food you can possibly eat, biscuits clog up your
arteries!
Include ample amounts of vitamin B (found in foods such as potatoes, bananas, lentils, liver, turkey and tuna) and omega 3 (cold water oily fish such as salmon, herring, mackerel, anchovies and sardines) within your diet will assist in combating the onset of anxiety and stress. If you are feeling stressed, look up a supplement called SAMe.
Exercise:
Exercise is not only important for our physical condition but also for our emotional and mental conditions as well. As we exercise our body releases endorphins, the same "feel good" hormone released during sex or laughter. These endorphins instantly help elevate our moods and create a more positive outlook on life.
Aerobic Exercise:
As part of the training programme at NASA,
astronauts get into peak physical condition by having a 30-minute aerobic
exercise session 3 times a week. They do this on a rebounder.
Rebounders are small, usually round, trampolines (less than one metre in diameter). This so-called rebounding allows the user to gain many of the benefits of exercise with a low impact on knees and joints. This type of trampoline can be used indoors or outdoors. These trampolines do not give a rebound as high as larger sized recreational or competitive trampolines.
The best one that I have come across is a PT rebounder.
Aerobic exercise ensures that we are providing our body with a sufficient supply of oxygen, helping our brain and all of internal organs to work at an optimal level.
Brain power:
Whether you are young, old, working or retired, it is vital to keep your brain active to maintain strong functioning. As the saying goes "if you don't use it you lose it", this is 100% accurate for brain functioning. Keep your brain active by constantly learning new stuff, and placing it into your long term memory.
Take control:
Throughout various stages within our lives we become burdened by tragedies and life circumstances that happen to us. The manifestations of embedded feelings such as guilt, anger and sometimes hatred, can lead to the detriment of our own physical and mental health.
Allow yourself to enjoy the simple things that may occur within your day e.g. the sun shining, or a simple kind gesture from a passing stranger.
Allow yourself to refocus your attention to the positive things occurring within your environment. This in turn leads to improved health well being. The state of your health lies within your own hands.
By following the above simple and easy to follow steps you will help ensure an optimised state of your own health well being.
